Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS for short, is just that. It causes the bowels to be very irritable and prevents you from being regular and comfortable with your bowel movements. There are many symptoms of IBS, including:
- Irregular bowel movements
- Diarrhea, constipation, or bowel movements that alternate between diarrhea and constipation
- Bowel movements of varying size and/or texture
- Difficult bowel movements that may cause you to strain at times, while at other times you may experience no trouble at all
- Frequent feeling of being bloated
- Abdominal pain that is relieved with a bowel movement
- Headache that is relieved by a bowel movement
IBS is often diagnosed using the Rome III Method. Based on this method, if you have suffered with at least two of the symptoms listed above for the past six months and have experienced abdominal pain at least three days out of every month, you may be diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome.
There is no exact known cause for irritable bowel syndrome. It is believed to be either a genetic problem, or a problem with the brain sending different, incorrect signals to the bowels. Using a holistic approach to healing, I treat the body as a whole. This helps me to determine the root cause of your discomfort and create a natural remedy specifically for you.
IBS sufferers may experience negative reactions to certain things that don't affect others in the same way, such as:
These are just a few of the triggers that tend to affect people with irritable bowel syndrome. There are many different IBS remedies that can treat the symptoms and make you more comfortable, but there is no way to completely eliminate IBS.
Treating IBS with Acupuncture
Using an acupuncturist for irritable bowel syndrome is a great way to naturally relieve your IBS. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical art that involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into specific points around the body. It is believed that people suffer with certain issues and illnesses whenever the body’s Qi, or life-energy, is blocked in some way. Acupuncture helps to remove such blockages, alleviating symptoms and helping the patient to feel better. In some cases, the results can be almost immediate.

Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years and has been clinically proven to help relieve the symptoms of many health issues and diseases. It is an effective method of IBS relief which does not cause any of the unwanted side effects associated with pharmaceuticals.
In many cases, the effects of acupuncture are felt almost immediately, and the procedure is performed in a comfortable and relaxing environment in which the body is able to begin the healing process.
Most IBS treatments include administration of pharmaceuticals that help to relax the bowels and are only used when a person experiences a flare-up of bowel issues.
Such medicines are often associated with specific side effects that can cause harm and damage to the other systems of the body. Additionally, these drugs only work during an IBS issue, so the patient will have to deal with the ongoing pain and stress caused by the syndrome. Acupuncture is able to combat the problem before it happens and effectively prevent it from happening in the future.
Acupuncture starts working on your body almost immediately! It can help to relieve symptoms just as soon as your Qi is flowing normally again. By using acupuncture as your IBS treatment in New Jersey, you can start feeling relief quickly.
While acupuncture is able to begin working very quickly, regular visits to an acupuncturist for Irritable Bowl Syndrome can help to quickly resolve your symptoms, prevent them from returning, and help you start feeling great again. Unlike other IBS remedies, acupuncture is performed in a calming environment. This setting helps the patient to relax during the procedure and allows the body to heal.
Acupuncture is a holistic method that focuses on treatment of the whole person. It is a great way to remain calm, stress free, and healthy throughout the entire IBS treatment process. Most patients experience no pain at all with the acupuncture process and many find the entire process to be a very relaxing experience during which they may even fall into a deep sleep.
I have years of experience as an acupuncturist for irritable bowl syndrome and can help to effectively treat and heal your IBS symptoms through the use of acupuncture. I will provide you with a relaxing, healing environment and the expert know-how that will leave you feeling assured that you are in good hands.
Choosing acupuncture as your IBS treatment in NJ is a giant step towards improving your overall health and quality of life. And, choosing the right acupuncturist for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, one who has studied acupuncture in-depth, and is knowledgeable of the many different body systems, is important too. I understand that IBS is a difficult issue to live with, and am happy to help you understand how I can help.
